Sheridan Police Department officials were recently on Public Pulse to discuss the nine principles of policing that were developed in the 19th century by Sir Robert Peele. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Sheridan Police Department Chief Travis Koltiska and Lieutenant Dan Keller talked about Peel’s nine policing principles and how the SPD bases activities on the three core ideas that revolve around preventive policing. Chief Koltiska said that the nine policing principles that Peel developed nearly 200 years ago are still just as important and relevant in proper police operations today as they were in 19th century London.
Lieutenant Dan Keller said it’s about making the right arrests for the right reasons.
Keller said they conduct high visibility enforcement in an effort to deter crime and that an example of this is monitoring traffic flows in high crash areas. Click here to listen to more from the interview with Chief Koltiska and Lieutenant Keller.
