Johnson County Tourism Association Marketing Director Toby Carrig, in his annual report to the Buffalo City Council, updated them on this year’s budget and gave comparisons to last year, saying they will spend about the same promoting tourism in the county.

Carrig explained that some of the increase in operations was due to a new part-time position that will be a social media content producer.

According to information provided by the JCTA, in Fiscal Year 2025-26, they are expecting to spend about 19.5% of their budget on marketing; 38% on advertising; 32.5% on operations; and 10% on state grant projects.

Project spending will be just over $444,500 in local funds; and roughly $50,000 in state funds for a total of $495,000.
