The Sheridan Community Land Trust is inviting the community to discover the fascinating geologic history of the Bighorns along the trails accessed from the Bear Gulch East Trailhead, part of the newest section of Red Grade Trails. Retired geologist Steve Stresky will tell a story over a billion years in the making as we enjoy a summer night on the mountain. From Cliffhanger Trail, you’ll be able to see deep into the Cloud Peak Wilderness and take in views of the Bighorn anticline and the valley below.
The Discovery Session will be 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, Bear Gulch East Trailhead at Red Grade Trails
SCLT asks attendees to meet at the Bear Gulch East Trailhead parking lot. If the lot is full, please park carefully along the roadside. The hike is about 1.75 to 2 miles, rated easy to moderate, with some stone steps on a short section of Cliffhanger Trail. Dress for the weather. The event is free and open to all.
