Residents of Buffalo came before the city council recently to express their concern over bicycle, electric bicycle and scooter riders in town that are apparently not doing so safely, or following traffic regulations.
They are worried that someone could possibly be hurt if the city doesn’t make an effort to curb the riders from speeding and not obeying traffic laws.
Mark Wilson said he has seen a number of issues in his neighborhood on Lobban Avenue.
Vice-mayor Myra Camino said that although there aren’t any specific city ordinances on electric bikes, there are state ordinances that the city could adopt, and that the council should look into the issue and try to adopt ordinances for everyone’s safety.
Dennis Thorson also said he has witnessed issues with bikes, electric bikes, and scooters.
The council thanked them both for bringing the issue to their attention and said they will look into what can be done to correct the problem.
