The Johnson County Historical Society will host a presentation later in September entitled, “Locating, Documenting, and Memorializing Casper Army Air Base Training Crash Sites.”
Mark Milliken has been a volunteer for the Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum since 2001, compiling stories and oral histories from WWII veterans. He is currently President of the Board of Directors of the Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum.
In 2017 the museum requested the Friends locate, document, and memorialize six Casper Army Air Base crash sites, deeming them significant because they had mostly been lost to history.
Four sites have been re-discovered and documented.
Relatives of crews lost were located, with relatives from three crews able to attend military funerals conducted by the Wyoming Army National Guard.
The presentation will be Monday, September 22 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Johnson County Library’s Twing Room.
The public is welcome to attend.
