News – Sheridan Media

The application for the Gillespie Draw Subdivision was certified to be in conformance with all rules and regulations governing the Joint Planning Area between City of Sheridan and Sheridan County, and is in agreement with the Future Land Use Plan for the area. The certification came in the form of a resolution that was approved by the Sheridan City Council Tuesday night.

A Memorandum of Understanding Between the County and the City regarding the subdivision of land within one mile of the contiguous corporate limits, outlines the responsibilities of the two jurisdictions in reviewing and taking action on development proposals within the Joint Planning Area. The MOU stipulates that City staff and the City Governing Body shall have the opportunity to make comments and suggestions on development plans in the area. City Planner Kelly Schroeder says the MOU is the reason the certification resolution was addressed by the City Council.

The subdivision consists 622 acres that will be divided into 15 lots, two of which will be conservation lots maintained by the Sheridan Community Land Trust and the remaining 13 lots will be residential use lots ranging from 4.4 acres to 9.2 acres in size.
