Tongue River Pathway Groundbreaking Celebration

September 6, 2025

News – Sheridan Media

Construction has begun on the Tongue River Pathway between Ranchester and Dayton. To celebrate the groundbreaking, the Tongue River Pathway Board will be holding a public open-house on Sunday, September 14, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Ranchester Town Hall.

Ranchester received a competitive TAP grant from the Wyoming Department of Transportation to build Phase One west of Ranchester. WYDOT earlier funded the completed engineering design for future phased construction of the entire six miles planned pathway between the two north Sheridan County towns. The non-motorized pathway, located in the north right-of-way on State Highway 14, will be available for bikers, walkers, runners, and residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.

The kickoff celebration will include light refreshments, prize drawings, and information on the Ranchester to Dayton pathway. The Sheridan Chamber of Commerce will be on hand for a ribbon cutting at 3:00 pm. The Pathway board and town officials will be in attendance to welcome local residents and trail users as construction gets underway and future plans continue to provide the Tongue River community with a high-quality and safe off-highway travel route. The public is welcomed and invited to the festivities to celebrate the start of the community pathway.
