Constitution Day Commemoration to be Held

September 9, 2025

News – Sheridan Media

On September 17, at beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the SHS Auditorium, the public is invited to a special celebration to commemorate the day in 1787, when the Founding Fathers signed the U.S. Constitution.

Special guest speaker will be Marilyn Kite, retired Wyoming chief justice. The We the People students will demonstrate their knowledge of government and the Constitution.

The Daughters of the American Revolution will participate in the event as well. The DAR, in 1955, petitioned the Congress to set aside September 17-23 as Constitution Week to be dedicated for the observance of the signing of the Constitution. This was later adopted by Congress and President Eisenhower signed it into public law the next year.

At the September 17 SHS event, there will also be Constitution trivia, to discover more about the document that established a framework for our government and outlines the rights of citizens in the United States of America.

The public is invited to attend this free event.
