The Tongue River Fire Department recently held an extraction training exercise using two vehicles that were provided by Ted’s Towing of Sheridan. The hands-on training allowed volunteer firefighters the opportunity to practice critical rescue skills in a realistic environment, preparing them to respond effectively when time is critical.
During the exercise, volunteers practiced stabilization, tool use, and patient-access techniques on the donated vehicles. These scenarios are vital in preparing firefighters for real-world emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents, where the ability to safely and quickly remove victims can make the difference between life and death.
Tongue River Fire Chief Jeff Barron said the training is essential for their volunteers to be ready when the community needs them most, and that community partnerships remain at the heart of the Tongue River Fire Department’s mission and support from local businesses like Ted’s Towing ensures volunteers have access to the resources they need to train effectively and continue providing high-quality emergency response to the community.
