On Tuesday, September 23, at the Ucross Art Gallery, there was a reception for Roxanne Everett of Seattle, Washington. Everett is the inaugural artist featured in Big Red Showcase, a new rotating exhibition series in the Ucross Gallery. Everett’s paintings will be on display through January 10, 2026.

Caitlin Addlesperger, President and Executive Director, thanked the trustees and the Big Red Society members, many of whom were at the event. She said anyone wishing to be a Big Red Society they could contact her or go to Ucross.org. She then introduced Everett.
Everett’s works capture a deep reverence for wild places, drawing inspiration from her background in forest ecology and her years as a back-country ranger in remote alpine environments.

Everett said she started as an architect, but found herself spending more and more time outdoors,
Although born in Ohio, she has lived in Washington State for several years.
She said she is mainly an acrylic painter. Before she started painting seriously, when she was in the back country, she kept a watercolor journal, took lots of photos, did some pen and ink sketches, and wrote notes about the scenery.

Evoking both awe and inquiry, her paintings focus on the intricate systems of land, light, and life. Her intention, she says, is to “inspire a deeper appreciation and understanding of the natural world, while forging new connections to pristine places.”
Everett came to Ucross in the spring of 2024 as a resident.
All of her paintings are for sale, and if you are interested in purchasing any of Roxanne Everett’s landscape paintings, please contact the Ucross Art Gallery Associate, Lacasa Michelena, at lmichelena@ucross.org or 307-737-2291. Delivery and pickup options are available.
Featuring a single former Ucross artist-in-residence at a time, the Big Red Showcase offers an intimate platform for collectible work, providing direct support to the artists and creating unique moments of connection between creator and viewer.
