The acceptance of a planning and demonstration grant award through the U.S. Department of Transportation was an item of recent consideration by the Sheridan City Council. City Public Works Director Hanns Mercer said accepting the grant award leads to a comprehensive safety action plan.
Following Mercer’s presentation, the Council voted to accept the Safe Streets for All grant award in the amount of $200,000. The City’s required match is $50,000, which will be funded with public benefit funds. Mercer said that once the action plan is complete, the City would then apply for an implementation grant that would be used for the implementation of projects or strategies that are consistent with the plan.
