On Oct 4, at 7 p.m., the Natural History Museum of Wyoming hosted a reading and book signing of “Dinosaur Dreams,” by B.J. Hollars.
Tom Hebert, Director of the Museum, introduced the speaker, saying he didn’t realize how much work writing a book could be.
Hollars joked with Hebert about being called ‘Professor’ as he was one of Hebert’s teachers in college. He said it was great to reunite with Tom and his wife, Beth, and there would be no book without them.
He asked if anyone in the room had dreamed about digging up a dinosaur, and a few of the younger set, although shy, admitted to wanted to dig up some fossil bones.
He showed a short video of the trip as well.

One of the items they found on a dig with Hebert on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, was a piece of a rib bone of a Hadrosaur. Ellie was digging in the dirt, and showed Tom her find.
All the fossils found on the reservation, and displayed in Standing Rock Institute of Natural History, Hebert was given permission to give the bone to Ellie. He presented it to Hollars at the conclusion of the talk.
The book was not only a book about the father-daughter journey, the places they saw and the people they met along the way. But it also included several chapters about dinosaur discoveries and paleontologists over the years, including the ‘Bone Wars’, which took place in Wyoming, Montana and Colorado.

On museum while not on the dinosaur trail, was the Glendive Dinosaur and Fossil Museum, which tells the biblical creation story rather than the evolution story.
Hollars and his daughter went to museums, attended digs for dinosaur bones, and met a host of interesting characters.
The book is available at the Natural History Museum of Wyoming at Sheridan College.
