MFG Day, or Manufacturing Day, is a grassroots movement to celebrate modern manufacturing careers. It is celebrated on the first Friday in October.
However, Teresa Detimore, Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce CEO, said the Chamber decided to extend their tours throughout the entire month of October.
As a part of the tours, on October 15, the community members had a chance to tour the Sheridan College Technical Center, which offers such Career and Technical Education, (CTE) classes as Diesel Mechanics, CDL training, welding and other tech classes.

Dr. Walt Tribley, Sheridan College President, said that at Sheridan College they are very proud of their CTE program.
Tribley said that anyone interested in any college courses can either go to the Sheridan college website or come into the college and talk to an advisor. He added that an advisor can get to know the student and find out what they are interested in and help them find a career path.
Rick Aili, with the Diesel Tech program diesel technology instructor, talks about what the students learn in that class.

There were two diesel trucks for students to learn on, and there was a Driving Trainer Simulator for the CDL students to get a life-like look at what the road looks like through the windshield and behind the wheel of a big rig.

A large crowd attended the tour to find out what the Sheridan College CTE Program has to offer.

Several other tours are planned throughout the month of October, they are posted on the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce website.
