A sentencing hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for a woman charged with aggravated assault. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
At a change of plea hearing on September 4, 28-year-old Anya Fritz pleaded no contest to one count of felony aggravated assault and battery and one count of misdemeanor domestic battery. Fritz was sentenced for the crimes at a hearing Tuesday in District Court. Fritz was charged with the crimes for an incident on April 20 at a residence in Sheridan when she threatened a person with a knife and caused bodily injury by use of physical force to another individual at the residence.
District Court Judge Darci Phillips, at Tuesday’s hearing, sentenced Fritz to 3 to 6 years in prison for the aggravated assault and battery charge, suspended in lieu of a split-sentence of one-year in jail to be followed by three years of supervised probation, and 180 days in jail for the misdemeanor domestic battery charge to run concurrent to the sentence for the felony. Fritz received 227 days of credit for time served of presentence confinement. Fritz will serve the remaining 138 days of her sentence in the Sheridan County Detention Center. Judge Phillips ordered Fritz to pay $435 in court costs and assessments and $750 in public defender fees.
