The Sheridan Community Foundation is a community-based charitable organization that raises and manages donations, awards grants to local nonprofits and helps donors give strategically to support long-term community needs.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, board president Mark Kinner said the idea for a community foundation was sparked through conversations with board vice president Jay McGinnis.

Led by a local, volunteer board, the Sheridan Community Foundation works with individual donors, local nonprofits and community partners across Sheridan County to strengthen local philanthropy, keep charitable dollars working in the community and provide a coordinated, transparent way to support nonprofits while building long-term financial stability through endowments and agency partner funds.
Formed within the past few years, the foundation has already completed two rounds of grant making, including its second year of grant awards in late 2025.
The foundation recently hosted the “Own the Dream” dinner, raising funds to support its work. Those donations allowed the foundation to distribute more than $157,000 to 28 Sheridan County nonprofit organizations. The funds came from donors from all walks of life who share an interest in investing in the Sheridan County community.
