September – Historic LX Bar Ranch Tour
On September 21, there was a tour of The LX Bar Ranch, one of the historic Kendrick Cattle Company ranches along the Powder River.
Misty Moore, District Manager Wyoming State Parks, said that the LX Bar was gifted to the park service in 2016. Up until that time the park service did not own a historic property like the LX Bar,
The LX Bar property consists of 40 acres and includes the stone buildings – the five-bedroom main house, a bunkhouse, horse barn, hospital shed, solar-heated chicken coop, and an ice/coal and laundry building. It was built around the same time as the Trail End Mansion in Sheridan.
The LX Bar is surrounded by private land, so it is difficult to currently tour the ranch buildings. However, the State Parks is working on ideas to make the property more accessible.

December – Youth Riders Remember Fetterman Fight
On Sunday, December 21, ten youth riders from the Pine Ridge, Northern Cheyenne, and Wind River Reservations met in Sheridan to ride to the Fetterman Monument. Their ride re-traced the route that many of their ancestors rode on that winter day of 1866.
There was drumming and chants to welcome the riders as they rode in.
Mark Roundstone of the Northern Cheyenne tribe, said that the ten riders were representative of the Cheyenne and Sioux decoys that drew the soldiers away from the fort before the Fetterman battle.
After the ceremony at the monument, the riders joined the community for a pot luck dinner at Kearney Hall.
