On Jan 2, a good crowd attended the Members Morning preview event to view the new exhibit, which opened the same day. The exhibit Transitions of the Landscape is a selection of Jessamine Spear Johnson’s photographs from the 1926 events at the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of the Little Big Horn.

Museum Director Carrie Ida Edinger,

The anniversary events at the Little Big Horn Battlefield included speeches, parades, and Crow Rodeo. This exhibit offers the opportunity to share Jessamine’s view as a resident of the Bighorn Mountain region, while exploring significant anniversary events of our nation and region.

As 2026 commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the battle, the exhibit will be on display until June 28.

Edinger added that the exhibit space is evolving, “Bear with us for a year or two. There will be more to come as we grow.”

After the tour of the new exhibit, the museum hosted their first Family Day, and that will be addressed in another story.
