SAGE Community Arts is preparing to host its 11th Annual Black and White Photography Exhibition, a juried show curated by photographer and educator Alex Pigeon.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, SAGE Community Arts Executive Director Jill Benson said the exhibition features selected works from artists across multiple regions, styles and subject matter. Benson said that while she is surrounded by art and color on a daily basis, there is something especially compelling about black and white photography.

Benson said the organization is hopeful the exhibition will open Jan. 20, with public viewing available once SAGE Community Arts reopens following a delayed flooring installation caused by a shipping error beyond the organization’s control.
An awards presentation and artist reception is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29. The exhibition will remain on display at SAGE through March 7 and aims to support local and emerging artists while inviting the public to explore photography that emphasizes ambiguity, emotion and visual storytelling.
