Representatives from the Johnson County Weed & Pest District gave a report on what they had accomplished during 2025.

District Supervisor Allen Buff talked about their successful weed bounty program.

He said they had sprayed just over 2,800 acres of leafy spurge, and treated just over 8,000 acres from the air.

He said they sprayed over 6,000 acres of ventenata around the north end of Lake DeSmet. He said there are roughly 5,000 more that need to be surveyed, believing the weed is almost certainly there as well.

Ventenata was also treated near Linch as well.
