Sheridan County Library System Director Amy Long made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the systemwide renovation project made possible through grant funding.
The project is designed to update and refresh library facilities located throughout Sheridan County. Renovations are currently being done on The Tongue River Branch Library. Work will begin on the Clearmont Branch Library within the next week and mid-February will see work begin on the Story Branch Library.
Work to update and renovate the Fulmer Library in Sheridan has been extensive over the last few years. Funds raised by Friends of the Library and other sources made much needed improvements but were stalled due to COVID-19.

Long and her team will soon begin the arduous process of preserving and relocating items from the Wyoming Room to allow work on much needed repairs and renovations of the space.

The organization of physical collection will begin in February and is scheduled to finish before the renovation, tentatively scheduled to begin in July. That work is tentatively scheduled to finish in November.
According to Long, research questions and requests for access to archive records can be submitted through an online form on the Wyoming Room homepage.
Once renovations are complete, the Wyoming Room will reopen to the public as soon as possible under its previous service model, offering both walk-in assistance and online request options.
Items currently housed in the Wyoming Room will be relocated within the Wyoming Room but will remain part of the Wyoming Room collection. Some materials may be temporarily hosted in other areas of the library or at other library branches.
When finished, the renovation will improve appropriate public access to the archive and enhance the community’s comfort and use of the physical space.
Long said the team is prioritizing the preservation of the items during the renovation.
