The Hub on Smith’s primary focus is the care, enrichment and quality of life of Sheridan’s seniors. One of its programs is designed to give older adults the option of aging in place, meaning they are able to remain in their own homes safely and independently as they grow older.
Senior living facilities serve an important role for individuals who are no longer able to live alone or whose health requires 24-hour care. For seniors who can remain at home, however, the Hub’s Help at Home program provides support ranging from household assistance to personal care. With a recent accreditation earned under the leadership of Help at Home Clinical Manager and Registered Nurse Sherri Burr, the program has expanded to now include skilled nursing services delivered in the home.
Burr said the new accreditation allows registered nurses to offer a range of medical services that were not previously available through Help at Home.

Hub on Smith Care Coordinator Johnie Paterakis works with individuals and families to determine eligibility, identify funding assistance sources and conduct intake interviews with potential clients, caregivers or family members to ensure services align with each person’s needs and schedule.
