Sheridan College has announced they will present an artist talk and opening reception for “Yield,” a solo exhibition by fiber artist Kimberly English, on Thursday, Feb. 5, in the Whitney Center for the Arts. The artist talk will begin at 4 p.m., followed by an opening reception at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
According to a news release, “Yield” examines the relationship between rest and productivity within the rhythms of rural America. Featuring woven and sewn textiles, the exhibition draws on natural cycles – growth and dormancy, abundance and depletion – as metaphors for human experience under systems of labor and devotion. Through repetitive and contemplative processes, English explores the historical moral weight placed on work and its connection to ideas of purpose, piety, and value. It also investigates the nuance of interdependence between land, machines, people, and the objects they create.
The exhibition and related events are part of the Whitney Center for the Arts’ Spring 2026 season.
