Johnson County Healthcare Center CEO Luke Senden spoke with the hospital board at their recent meeting to ask for approval for him to hire someone for a new position to the hospital.
He said there will be a need in the coming months for a Charge Nurse position, and explained further.
The board, during discussion, talked about the position streamlining everything in the hospital and clinic, decreasing wait times for patients wanting to see providers.
CFO Shelli Shelton was asked if the current budget would allow hiring for the position, and she said yes.
According to nursingworld.org, typical charge nurse responsibilities include
- ensuring staff adheres to workplace protocols and procedures; assisting nurses in their charge with patient-related questions; overseeing the smooth transition from one shift to another; acting as a liaison between nurses and doctors; creating and evaluating staffing plans and schedules; checking availability of patient supplies and medications; and handling their own patient assignments, if applicable.
The board voted to approve Senden hiring for the new position.
