SCSD#3 Board Swears in New Members

At the Tuesday, March 10 SCSD#3 board meeting, Jesse Holland, Shelby Northup, and Marcus Schneck gave a presentation for House Fiducia, with upcoming events for the house.

A large crowd attended the meeting, but on one from the community spoke to the board.

In her activities report, Jennifer Betz, activities director, said that Spirit Week, which was held Feb. 16-19, was a success with many students and staff participating.

She said that Senior Spotlights have started and they will honor a senior each week with special recognition and a small gift.

The middle school student council is still in the planning stages for their spring event where they plan to go mini-golfing in Sheridan. The date is to be determined soon!

In March they will start planning our events to finish the school year.

She said that the 7-12 band performed at the home basketball games. The band played during the pregame warm-ups of both the girl’s and boy’s varsity basketball games, adding excitement and showing school spirit.

Community members were invited to participate in the event, and we did have one additional member join!

The board recessed into two executive sessions to discuss new board members.

Two new board members were appointed and sworn in at the Tuesday, March 10 SCSD#3 Board of Trustees meeting. Sam Olson and Ernie Miller were appointed to take the place of Karis Prusak and Dusty Hackett, who resigned their positions on the board. The board also held an election, with Vice-Chairman Kelly Little being voted in as chairman, Deb Guyer as Vice-Chairman, and Sam Olson as treasurer. Gina Hackett was voted in as the recreation district board representative.

The board also approved to accept the resignation of Justin Hansen as basketball coach, the resignation of elementary teacher Jonathan Broesma, and several board members expressed their appreciation for his time at the school, and wished him well. They also voted to approve the retirement letter from guidance council Lloyce Ellingrod.

Superintendent Chase Christensen and several other board members expressed their appreciation for Loyce Ellingrod and her work at the school.

Many of the board members thanked the newest board members.

They also voted to hire Madeline Hutchison as 7-12 social studies teacher.

The April meetings will be held on April 7 at 7 p.m. and April 8 at 7 p.m.
