The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office and Sheridan County Road and Bridge have determined it is safe for wheeled vehicles to operate on a portion of Red Grade Road.
At 7am, Wednesday, March 25th, 2026, Red Grade Road will be open to wheeled vehicles from the snowmobile turnouts to Long Park.
Due to snow and road conditions beyond Long Park, the portion of Red Grade Road west of Long Park will remain closed to wheeled vehicles until it is determined safe and the potential risk to resource damage is reduced.
The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office, along with Sheridan County Road and Bridge, will continue to monitor the closed portion of Red Grade Road and will open to wheeled vehicles, once the snow clears.
The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to be mindful of any Bighorn National Forest Service Road closures within the forest service boundary and follow the forest service laws related to snowmobiles and tracked vehicles.
Forest Service Roads are closed to wheeled vehicles until April 1st.
“The propensity for resource damage is very high during this time of year,” Sheriff Levi Dominguez said, “so we would greatly appreciate the public’s help in reducing resource damage by operating wheeled vehicles on open roads and remember to not leave the roadways and please be mindful of the Bighorn National Forest Service’s road closures.”
The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office will provide updates when further changes are made to the status of Red Grade Road.
