Sheridan County YMCA Executive Director Liz Cassiday made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss summer camps at the YMCA.

After surveying parents and guardians, YMCA officials found that day camps are a top priority for families, with those in the Sheridan region placing greater value on programs that keep children engaged, safe and learning during typical work hours, even as overnight camps remain more popular in other parts of the country.

To meet this demand, the Sheridan County YMCA has developed strong partnerships with local organizations, including SAGE Community Arts, WYO PLAY, Science Kids and Rooted in Wyoming, offering camps designed to fit a wide range of interests among Sheridan’s youth.

Registration opens April 11 for YMCA members and April 15 for nonmembers, and Cassiday said the Y will offer 51 camps this year with activities aimed at keeping kids engaged, with enrollment on a first-come, first-served basis, efforts to include as many participants as possible, and scholarships available for those who qualify.
