Volunteers and staff installed the The Voices and Votes: Democracy in America exhibition at the Museum at the Bighorns Monday, April 13, 2026, The exhibit examines the nearly 250-year-old American experiment of a government “of, by and for the people,” and how each generation since continues to question how to form “a more perfect union.” This exhibit has been made possible in Sheridan, Wyoming at the Museum at the Bighorns by the Wyoming State Museum in Cheyenne and the exhibition is part of Museum on Main Street, a unique collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service.

The exhibit opens Apr 18 at 10 a.m. It will leave Sheridan on June 13 at 5 p.m.

The exhibit came in 16 crates.
Each exhibit had a template to show how to set it up.
Selwyn Ramp, project director, Museum on Main Street, told the installers to build from the bottom up.
Volunteers had to steady the supports until they were fastened with a knob screw.
Some of the exhibit components were heavy and needed two installers to carry them to their designated area.
There were several panels in the crates which had to be carefully pulled out.
