The Johnson County School Board, during their meeting in Kaycee Monday night, awarded the contract for the project to replace the Kaycee School Playground.
The board discussed the project with Facilities Manager John Zink.
According to information on the meeting Agenda, the bid opening took place March 24, with three bids submitted for the project: one from Great Western Installations; one from Star Playgrounds; and the third from Dakota Playgrounds.
After review by the Procurement Committee and Arete Design, they recommended the District accept the bid from Great Western Installations for the Kaycee K-12 School playground installation to be completed in the summer of 2026 for a cost of roughly $555,500.
The bid also came in under budget.
Funding for the project is coming from the district’s Major Maintenance Fund.
