The Johnson County Fair Board gave an update to the county commission this week on the status of the project to build a new community building at the fairgrounds.
Fair Board Secretary Matt Rable explained what the board had decided for the building and the contractor to build it.
Rable said the new community building will seat 500, and will be able to be split in the middle to accommodate multiple simultaneous events.
The Fair Board Office and the 4-H Extension Office will be housed there as well.
According to discussion, the contractor awarded the project was Falcon Construction, who is currently doing the renovation on the Kaycee Library.
