Johnson County’s Commissioners recently discussed a grant made available at this year’s legislative session to help protect the state’s assets, according to Commission Chairman Bill Novotny.

He explained more about the grant and how it will protect assets.

Novotny asked the commission whether they wanted to ask the County Clerk to submit the grant application and determine how the office would implement those funds.

Some of the county assets identified by discussion included Tie Hack Reservoir, Lake DeSmet, power substations, and water and sewer treatment plants.

The grant would be used to identify and map these types of critical infrastructure in the county and make the information available to Homeland Security.

The commission voted to submit a proposal to the Wyoming Department of Homeland Security for roughly $10,900 for the critical infrastructure mapping program.
