Seeing the need for an independent thinker who will listen to her constituents and make decisions based on their needs, Sturtevant decided now was the time to run for House District 29. She feels strongly that the best kind of government is the one that’s smallest and closest to the people. That means local issues should be decided locally, always with what’s best for Wyoming in mind.
Throughout her career, Sturtevant has been a creative problem solver, no matter the job. She excels at working under tight time constraints and with uncertain resource availability. As the owner of Whirly Girl Flowers, a boutique floral business, she listens to customers’ dreams, hopes, and visions for their events, often with resources that may not match those wishes. Sturtevant’s ability to navigate constantly changing landscapes and set priorities that align with resources makes her nimble and responsive, a quality applicable to both memorable events and uncertain State budget priorities.
Sturtevant is passionate about issues that impact her friends and neighbors in Sheridan, including:
· Empowering small businesses by reducing regulations that stifle growth
· Keeping public lands open to the public
· Responsible economic development that’s local and responsive
· Accessible, affordable healthcare for our rural communities
“I consider myself an independent Republican – I am completely obligated to the people of District 29, not to an ideology. I won’t answer to some outside group with an agenda; I will listen to and answer only to my constituents here in Sheridan,” said Sturtevant.
Sturtevant has lived in Sheridan for over a decade. She and her husband, Nate, have built a life and invested in their community through their businesses, church, and volunteering.
“As a lifelong Republican, I can’t keep hoping for change. I need to help make it. I’m thrilled to be able to make a difference.”
