AARP Wyoming is currently accepting nominations for its 2026 Andrus Award for Community Service, recognizing Wyoming residents aged 50 and older who volunteer to improve their communities in the Cowboy State.

According to a news release, the nomination period is open through June 30. The recipient will be honored during the AARP Wyoming Volunteer Summit to be held Oct. 1 in Laramie.

According to AARP Wyoming, the Andrus Award is the organization’s highest volunteer honor and recognizes individuals whose unpaid service enriches the lives of others and inspires community involvement.

“The Andrus Award is our highest honor, and our nomination period has seen Wyoming introduce us to some very high-level individuals who are making their communities a better place for all,” AARP Wyoming Associate State Director for Outreach Jennifer Baier said in the release.

Eligible nominees must be at least 50 years old and perform volunteer service without pay, although small stipends covering volunteer-related costs are allowed. Couples or partners who volunteer together are eligible, but teams are not.

AARP Wyoming will narrow nominations to three finalists. Videos highlighting each finalist will be posted on AARP Wyoming’s Facebook page, where public engagement and voting will help determine the winner.

The award is named after AARP founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus and recognizes volunteer efforts consistent with the organization’s mission and commitment to service.

Nomination forms are available by clicking here. The deadline to apply is June 30. For further questions contact AARP Wyoming Associate State Director for Outreach Jennifer Baier at jbaier@aarp.org.
