A/C School Spring Music Concert

Patriotic Music was in the air on Thursday night, May 7, at the Arvada-Clearmont School K-12 Music Department Spring Concert. Thirty-nine music students participated in the concert.

The K-4th grade students opened the concert, singing a selection of ten songs, opening with the Star-Spangled Banner, and five students performed a music selection on recorders.

They also sang Our States are Great, Twinkle Twinkle Fifty Stars, Home on the Range and You’re a Grand old Flag.

During the brief intermission between the elementary and Junior High and High School Band, Kirsten Johnson, music teacher, talked about the concert,

She added that the students did well at the Music Festival, saying she took the largest group of junior high students that she ever had to the festival.

The band consists of 22 musical students from 5th grade through sophomores. They played such favorites as My County Tis’ of Thee, Stars and Stripes Forever, and Yankee Doodle. Seventh grader Nathan Carvalho played a drum solo, Speeding Past,

After several other selections, some that the students played for the music festival, the band concluded by playing America The Beautiful.

After the concert, Johnson also announced the names of the students who received a letter in Music and presented several awards to the students as well.

There was an art show in the halls, and attendees were encouraged to vote for their favorite artwork from the students.

There was also an ice-cream social after the concert.
