The Birds of the Big Goose Natural Area will be the next installment of the Unplug series. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Science Kids and the Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) invite the public to participate in Unplug: Birds of the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area, Wednesday, May 13 from 5 to 6 pm at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area at 14 Lane Ln. The program will be led by Dr. Julie Rieder of Science Kids and will focus on observing and identifying birds as they migrate north to their summer nesting grounds.
Participants will walk along Big Goose Creek and learn introductory birding skills, with an emphasis on building confidence in distinguishing common species such as warblers, finches, and chickadees. Spring conditions—characterized by minimal leaf cover and birds in breeding plumage—provide an ideal opportunity for observation. The program will include walking on paved and mowed surfaces.
Unplug is a creative outdoor education program for families, in partnership with Science Kids and Sheridan Community Land Trust. All Unplug programs are free to attend and designed for participants of all ages. You can sign up for the event here.
