A talk focusing on Nellie Tayloe Ross will be offered at the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum in Buffalo Wednesday evening .
The presentation will be made by Rick Ewig, who will discuss Nellie Tayloe Ross, Wyoming’s first and only woman governor, elected in 1925, and who was also the first woman in the country to serve as governor.
She was appointed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as Director of the US Mint in 1933, a position she held for 20 years.
Ewig is a former instructor of Public History and associate director of the University of Wyoming’s American Heritage Center.
He holds a master’s degree in history from UW, and was the past editor of the state historical journal, Annals of Wyoming, and was past president of the Wyoming Historical Society.
The presentation will be offered Wednesday, May 20 beginning at 5 p.m. in the Carriage House at the museum.
