The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is alerting the public that aquatic invasive species watercraft inspection stations have begun operating with expanded summer hours in the Sheridan Region. The AIS website lists current hours of operation for inspection stations across the state.
The department reports that from March 1 through Nov. 30, all watercraft entering Wyoming must be inspected prior to launching on a Wyoming water. Anyone transporting a watercraft must also stop whenever they encounter an open check station on their route of travel. If your watercraft requires an inspection outside of check station operating hours, please set up an appointment by calling the Sheridan Regional Office at 307-672-7418 or contacting a private inspector.
Game and Fish are urging boaters to remember to Clean, Drain and Dry your watercraft and other equipment to comply with regulations and prevent the potential spread of aquatic invasive species.
Check stations perform watercraft inspections but do not sell AIS decals, which are required for most watercraft. Decals can be purchased at license selling agents, at a regional office or through the Game and Fish website.
