The Sheridan Police Department is preparing for increased activity during the Fourth of July Weekend and are asking everyone who may wish to have a drink in celebration to have a plan for getting home.
According to Sheridan Police Chief Travis Koltiska, the greatest threat to the public welfare in the City of Sheridan is drinking and driving. Although the numbers of DUI arrests and citations have declined in recent years, Koltiska said the officers of the SPD remain vigilant and will be on patrol this Fourth of July weekend to rid Sheridan of the greatest threat to the City’s safety.

Captain Tom Ringley said officers will focus on preventing violent crime, impaired driving and underage alcohol consumption.
The SPD Chief said the department does want people to have a good time, celebrate independence and the Nation’s 250th Anniversary. But he also urges the public to have a plan to get home safely prior to heading out for the night so all the memories from this nationwide celebration are good ones.
