To improve access and to repair damage from the 2024 Elk Fire, restoration work is occurring on Burgess Forest System Road 15 and Fool Creek Forest System Road 168. According to the Bighorn National Forest Service, the roads will receive new gravel, culvert replacement, and clearing and grubbing. Due to the extent of the work, delays may occur up to 30 minutes. The contractor has been mobilizing and work started July 6, 2026 to expand the Fool Creek Gravel Pit.

If you plan to be in the area, the Forest Service  requests that you slow down and watch for heavy equipment, traffic, and construction workers. Support for the project is from Disaster Relief funds.
