The Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) is inviting community members to lend a hand during a Streetcar Volunteer Evening on Tuesday, July 14, as restoration work continues on Streetcar Ol’ #115, Wyoming’s last remaining streetcar.
Volunteers are welcome to join the effort anytime between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Big Goose Natural Area, 14 Lane Ln., Sheridan. Participants can stay for as little or as long as their schedules allow.
The evening’s projects will include painting window frames and benches, installing glass, touching up sections of the streetcar’s exterior, and helping prepare the site for SCLT’s upcoming Tracks Through Time community celebration on Friday, July 17 beginning at 6 p.m.
“Every volunteer plays an important role in preserving this unique piece of Sheridan County history,” said Kevin Knapp, SCLT Director of History. “Whether you can help for an hour or the entire evening, your time will help move this restoration project forward and prepare the site to welcome visitors.”
No experience is necessary. Volunteers are encouraged to wear clothes they don’t mind getting paint on, sturdy shoes, and work gloves if they have them. SCLT will provide tools, supplies, snacks, and drinks.
Community members are encouraged to RSVP to help SCLT plan for supplies, though walk-up volunteers are welcome.
