A pretrial conference was held Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court for a woman who is charged with 13 counts of felony theft for allegedly embezzling from a Sheridan based nonprofit foundation. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
While a jury trial remains scheduled to begin September 21 in District Court for Bobbi Jo Neeson, Defense Attorney David Holmes withdrew his motion to continue the trial and stated to the Court that they are close to a resolution in the case. Neeson, at an arraignment hearing in April, pleaded not guilty to 13 counts of felony theft.
On November 10, 2025, the Sheridan Police Department responded to an embezzlement complaint made by the attorney for the B.F. and Rose H. Perkins Foundation. The Perkins Foundation is a Sheridan based nonprofit that awards interest free loans to college students and medical grants to children and young adults. The Perkins Foundation reported to law enforcement that former Foundation Manager Bobbi Jo Neeson had embezzled money from the Foundation. A subsequent investigation led to Neeson’s arrest on March 13, 2026.
According to court documents, Neeson allegedly embezzled $631,535 between 2013 and May of 2025 by placing an additional loan onto a current loan recipients account, as if they had requested and received the funds, and then deposited the student loan into one of her personal bank accounts, with the recipient being unaware that the loan had been placed on their account.
Neeson also allegedly made approximately $4,200 in unauthorized rent payments for her son, who was renting a space in the same building where the Perkins Foundation is located on Loucks Street in Sheridan. Each count of felony theft is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
