Popular Babysitting Program at Y to Hold Another Class

During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Sheridan County YMCA Executive Director Liz Cassiday said the Safe Sitter Classes have proven to be so popular, they will soon hold another session.

A nationally recognized program, Safe Sitter teaches students tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. Students also learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering. The course prepares students to handle first aid situations by teaching skills such as choking rescue and CPR. Students also learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.

For those students who wish to take sitting more seriously, Safe Sitter also teaches kids the ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers.
