Penelope Andreeff, 8, and her friend, Adeline Swaney, 9, were among the hundred runners participating in the 5K run or walk of The Link Partners in Pink 2026 which started and ended at Whitney Commons Park Saturday. They were running a 5K for the first time for their grandmother, Kathleen Flynn who was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Flynn who was contact with Andreeff via their cell phones to determine where she was during the course, said this event is “one of the greatest things the community does for people like us who have breast cancer to celebrate a traumatic thing to go through.”
“I am super proud and I am emotional,” Flynn said. “I don’t know what else to say.”
The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation sponsored the annual event.
