The lone item under old business for Monday night’s Sheridan City Council business meeting is consideration of an ordinance to rezone 26.3 acres at 4250 Yellowtail Drive in Sheridan from a Higher Education District and R-3 Residence District to a B-2 Business District. The ordinance was approved on first reading at the Council’s October 19 meeting on a 6 to 1 vote. Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger says he doesn’t expect there to be any changes to the ordinance on second reading.
The parcel was zoned Higher Education when it was annexed into the City in 2013 with the intent of building a First People’s Center for Education on the property. City Planning Director Kelly Schroeder said the original vision of the education facility never materialized and the Higher Education zoning limits what the property can be used for. The City Council will meet Monday at 5:30 pm in Council Chambers on the third floor of Sheridan City Hall.
