In July, 33-year-old Jordan Wathen was arrested and charged with one count of felony strangulation of a household member and one count of misdemeanor interference with an emergency call. According to court documents, Wathen was arrested after law enforcement responded to a 911 hang-up and domestic dispute where Wathen allegedly prevented the victim from calling 911 by breaking the individual’s phone. Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, Wathen pleaded “no contest” to the strangulation charge. The prosecution is recommending the misdemeanor charge be dismissed at sentencing.
District Court Judge John Fenn ordered that a presentence investigation be completed and set the sentencing date for January 11 at 9:45 am. Wathen’s bond was revoked and Judge Fenn remanded him to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center to await sentencing.
