The case against 15-year-old Christian Torres has been bound over to Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. Torres, who is charged with second degree murder for allegedly killing his father, 47-year-old Edgar Jones at a home in Dayton on the night of July 27, waived his preliminary hearing, which was scheduled to take place Tuesday afternoon in Circuit Court.

By waiving the hearing, the case is now bound to District Court for trial. The next step in the legal process will be an arraignment hearing where Torres will enter a plea to the charge against him. At his initial appearance on October 19, Circuit Court Judge Shelley Cundiff set a cash bond of $250,000. The charge of second degree murder is punishable by not less than 20 years and up to life in prison and a fine of not more than $10,000.
