The Wyoming Department of Transportation held a public meeting Monday night in Buffalo to discuss, answer questions, and take input from the community on the upcoming Buffalo Main Street project, which is scheduled to begin in 2024.
The scope of the $6.7 million project, according to information at the meeting, is to resurface Main Street from the I-25 Interchange in the south to the I-90 Interchange in the north.
They will also improve ADA ramps at intersections, make repairs to the Main Street Bridge over Clear Creek, install a new culvert at Cemetery Creek, and upgrade traffic signals at Hart and Fort Streets.
In addition, Johnson County will work with WYDOT to “piggyback” onto the project to mill and overlay the North and South Bypass Roads as well as Rock Creek Road from the I-90 interchange to just past the Rock Creek Bridge.
The City of Buffalo is also involved to replace water and sewer lines on Main Street and for decorative lighting upgrades.
According to discussions, downtown businesses will be affected by the project, but WYDOT will be working to minimize problems.
There will be a number of public meetings scheduled in the future before the project begins in 2024.
