The Sheridan Recreation District Office, Thorne-Rider Kiddy Park, BMX Bike Track, Tennis, Sand Volleyball, Basketball Courts, Redle Field, Trooper Stadium, Walking Path, X-Country Ski Trail, Sledding Hill, Sheridan Skate Board Park, West Thorne-Rider Ice Rink, and Dan Madia Field are all located in Throne-Rider Park.
From North Main Street, turn west on 11th Street, turn north on Spaulding Street, follow Spaulding Street 1 block into Thorne-Rider Park. Thorne-Rider Kiddy Park and picnic area are on the right and Redle Field is straight ahead as you enter the Park. Going around the corner, the BMX Bike Track in on the left with the Sheridan Recreation District Office on the right, the Walking Path is across the river from the office, located in the center of the park are the Tennis, Sand Volleyball, Basketball Courts, and playground and picnic area. Trooper Stadium Field is located on the northeast end of Thorne-Rider Park.
From North Main Street, turn west on 11th Street, cross the bridge, Dan Madia Field is on the right, continuing west on 11th Street, turn north on Dana Avenue, the Sheridan Skate Board Park, a playground and picnic area and the Sledding Hill are located on the East side of Dana Avenue.
Winter Time at Thorne-Rider Park
Winter is a great time at Thorne-Rider Park and Madia Memorial Fields. The two combine to give us over 55 acres of outdoor enjoyment. On the Thorne-Rider side of the park, the walking trail intersects through the entire park. We have three “dogipot” stations available – one at the south entrance of the park, one on the bridge, and one available at the gate entrance of Madia Memorial Field. Remember to pick up after your dog and please keep them on their leashes. On the Madia side of the park, we have a 1-1/8th mile wilderness trail and two sledding hills. The sledding hills are a great place to tune up your snowboard skills and also a great place for family sledding. When you plan your family’s holiday flag football game don’t forget the large open area of the Recreation District’s youth football fields.
Enjoy the mixed wildlife of the wilderness trail; we still have plenty of ducks, geese, and pheasants roaming the area, as well as a few early morning sightings of muskrats and deer.
