Papers have been filed in the district court by attorneys for I. E. Gilbert against John D. Powers for the recovery of alleged damages in the amount of $35,000. The suit grows out of the plaintiff’s purchase of a large number of sheep and the leasing of a large number of acres from the defendant.

The various local school boards have decided that it will not be advisable to delay the opening of schools as was originally proposed. The delay was proposed owing to the lack of labor in the harvest fields. It was thought the boys and young men could be employed to advantage by the farmers during the harvest season.

The city council has completed arrangements with the Warren Construction Company for Works and Loucks streets to be resurfaced with bitulithic.
