Roy H. Eaton, a homesteader of Verona 14 miles southeast of Sheridan, became the first of Sheridan county’s sons to be killed in action in the war with Germany. Relatives of Eaton received the news today of his death. He was 25.

Thousands of people from Sheridan and Sheridan county assembled in front of city hall last night to pay tribute to the new draft men who registered yesterday. The program embodied an excellent patriotic address by Mayor Camplin and the burning of the German text books of the public schools in a great bonfire.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Newcomb and Evelyn Grace have motored in from their home in Arvada to spend a few days in Sheridan.
