Powder River to Get New District Ranger

The Bighorn National Forest’s Powder River Ranger District, based in Buffalo, will be getting a new District Ranger, according to Forest Supervisor Andrew Johnson.

Johnson said the Forest Service ran into some unforeseeable issues but are actively recruiting a new District Ranger.

Although there are some in Johnson County concerned that the Forest Service would not be hiring a new ranger for the Powder River District, Johnson Said that is not the case, and there is an Acting District Ranger in the Powder River District.

Matt Riederer will be “holding down the fort” in Buffalo until a permanent District Ranger is found, according to Johnson.
